Terms of Service

Who we are

Soccer Data is a REST API for football data, with a dashboard, documentation and website at soccer-data.co (together, "Soccer Data").

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean the business that runs Soccer Data. "You" means the person or organisation that uses Soccer Data.

Accepting these terms

These terms apply whenever you create an account, call the API or use any other part of Soccer Data. By doing any of those things, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Soccer Data.

If you sign up on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you're allowed to accept these terms for it. The organisation is then bound by them, and the people it lets use the account act on its behalf.

You must be at least 16 and able to enter into a binding contract.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you have a separate agreement with us signed by both sides, such as an Enterprise agreement, that agreement wins wherever it differs from these terms.

Your account and API keys

Your account

To sign up you give us your name, your email address and a password. Please keep your details accurate, and keep your email address current, because that's where we send notices about your account and these terms. A new account starts on the Free plan, with one API key that works straight away.

Keep your password safe. You're responsible for everything done through your account.

Plans and billing

Plans

We offer a Free plan and two paid plans, Pro and Business. The prices, limits and features of each are on our pricing page. Enterprise plans are available only under a separate agreement signed by both sides.

The Free plan costs nothing. We may change what it includes.

Paying

Paid plans are billed monthly, in advance, in US dollars, pounds sterling or euros. You choose the currency before your first payment; it can't be changed while a subscription is running.

Payments are handled by Stripe, through Stripe Checkout and Stripe's customer portal. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method through Stripe for each billing period until you cancel.

Renewal

Your subscription renews automatically every month. At the start of each period we charge the price of your plan, plus any add-ons you have chosen if we offer them, until you cancel.

Upgrades, plan changes and add-ons

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the Subscription page in your dashboard. Your paid plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for; then your account moves to the Free plan and you won't be charged again. You can withdraw a cancellation until the period ends.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, Stripe will try again, and you keep your plan while it does. Your dashboard will ask you to update your payment details. If the payment still can't be collected, your account moves to the Free plan.

Refunds

We don't refund partial periods, including when you cancel or delete your account part-way through a period, except where the law requires it.

If you're a consumer in the UK or the EU, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing.

Taxes

You're responsible for any other taxes, duties or bank charges that apply to your payments.

Price changes

We may change our prices. If you don't want to pay a new price, you can cancel at any time.

Usage limits

Each plan has a daily request limit and a per-minute rate limit. Daily limits run per UTC day and reset at midnight UTC. The numbers for each plan are on the pricing page, and the docs explain what counts as a request.

If you go over a limit, the API answers with HTTP status 429 until the limit resets. We never charge extra for going over: if you need more, upgrade your plan. Unused requests don't carry over to the next day.

Don't try to get around the limits, for example by opening extra accounts to spread your requests across, or by sharing one account between separate businesses.

Using the data

The football data you receive through the API belongs to us or to the providers we license it from. We don't sell you the data itself. Instead, we give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it as these terms allow.

What you can do

While your account is open and your plan is active, you may:

What you can't do

When your plan or account ends

When your account is closed or these terms end, your licence ends too.

Acceptable use

Use Soccer Data only for lawful purposes. In particular, don't:

If you use the data, including odds, in a betting, gaming or trading product, it's your responsibility to hold any licences you need and to follow the gambling, advertising and consumer laws of every place where your product is offered.

Data accuracy and odds

Our football data comes from third-party providers. We work to keep it accurate and timely, but we can't promise that it is complete, correct or up to date. Scores, events, lineups and statistics can arrive late, change after the event or simply be wrong. Live answers are normally at most 15 seconds old on paid plans and at most 5 minutes old on the Free plan, on top of any delay at the source. When we can't fetch a fresh answer, for example because a provider is slow or unavailable, we may serve an older copy instead, marked as stale in the response; the docs explain how to recognise one and how old it can be.

Coverage differs between competitions, and we may add or remove competitions, seasons or types of data as our providers change.

Odds are the prices published by bookmakers, provided for information only, and they can also be delayed or wrong. We are not a bookmaker: we don't take bets, offer odds of our own or give betting advice. Check the data before you rely on it, especially before you settle bets, pay out money or make any other decision with money at stake.

Availability and API changes

We aim to keep Soccer Data running at all times, but we don't promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, and problems at our providers can affect it. There is no service level agreement (SLA) or uptime commitment unless a signed Enterprise agreement includes one.

We keep improving the API. We may add endpoints, fields and parameters at any time, so your code should ignore fields it doesn't recognise.

Suspension and termination

If you want to leave

You can stop using Soccer Data at any time. Deleting your account on the Profile page cancels any paid subscription immediately, without a refund for the rest of the period (see Refunds). It also deletes all your API keys, so they stop working, and erases your account and its usage history. If you'd rather keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for, cancel the subscription first and delete the account later.

If we need to act

We may suspend or close your account, or limit your access to the API, if:

Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.

We may also stop offering Soccer Data altogether.

When your account ends, your licence to the data ends as described in Using the data. Anything you still owe us, and the sections on using the data, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law, continue to apply.

Disclaimers

Soccer Data and its data are provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promises about them beyond those written in these terms. That includes any implied promise that they are accurate, uninterrupted, of satisfactory quality or fit for a particular purpose.

If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded by a contract.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Apart from that, and as far as the law allows:

Indemnity

If you use Soccer Data for a business, you agree to cover our losses, including reasonable legal costs, from any claim brought by someone else that arises from:

We'll tell you promptly about any such claim and cooperate reasonably with you in dealing with it.

Governing law

If you're a consumer, you keep any protection given to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Soccer Data changes or as the law requires. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.

If you keep using Soccer Data after a change takes effect, the new terms apply to you. If you don't agree with them, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before then.
